Monument House
An Architectural Study in Spatial Psychology and Warm Minimalism

PROJECT OVERVIEW
Monument House is a conceptual residential study by BLOU INK exploring how architecture can function as both shelter and psychological experience. Designed as a sequence of monolithic volumes organized around an inner garden, the project examines the relationship between protection, light, stillness, and spatial flow.
Rather than treating the home as a collection of separate rooms, Monument House was developed as a connected living system in which each pavilion relates to the next through transition, rhythm, and pause. The result is an architectural proposal rooted in warmth, restraint, and intentional living.
THE NARRATIVE
Monument House began as an internal architectural study exploring the idea of the home as a protective shell with a calm interior core.
The project is organized around an inner garden that serves as the emotional and spatial center of the residence. Two primary pavilions are positioned around this central void, creating a sequence that moves from arrival to openness, then from openness to retreat.
Instead of relying solely on enclosed corridors, the architecture uses transitional movement and visual connection to guide the experience of the home. Light, threshold, and proportion become essential design elements, shaping how the residence is felt as much as how it is occupied.
Through this study, BLOU INK explores a form of residential architecture that is at once restrained and immersive: monolithic in expression but deeply human in experience.
VISUAL STUDY

A series of renderings illustrating the architectural language, spatial atmosphere, and interior restraint of Monument House.
CONCEPT DIAGRAM
Monument House is organized around a central inner garden positioned between two primary architectural volumes. This open core allows daylight to penetrate deep into the residence while reinforcing the project’s emphasis on pause, transition, and environmental connection.

CONCEPTUAL FLOOR PLAN
The residence is arranged as a sequence of pavilions connected through an inner garden and pergola walkway. The plan prioritizes spatial clarity, visual continuity, and the relationship between enclosed living zones and transitional outdoor space.
Conceptual study only. Not intended for construction use.

SECTION THROUGH INNER GARDEN
The section reveals the relationship between the monolithic outer volumes and the open garden core. It illustrates how the central void introduces light, scale, and visual connection between the living and private pavilions, while preserving the sense of protection established by the surrounding architectural shell.

MATERIAL + SPATIAL LANGUAGE
Monument House explores a restrained architectural language defined by strong massing, filtered light, and tactile calm. The residence is conceived as a quiet shell: grounded, protective, and intentionally minimal.
Its material direction supports that experience through mineral surfaces, softened tonal contrast, and a sense of weight balanced by openness. The design is not driven by excess but by atmosphere, by the way enclosure, light, and proportion can shape how a home is experienced emotionally.
This approach reflects BLOU INK’s broader interest in spatial psychology: the belief that a home is not only seen, but felt.
